It finally arrived…West Blvd. Library’s 25 year Anniversary that is! WBL‘s 25th Anniversary held on the 21st was a huge success! During the month of September, patrons were encouraged to complete a board game which included such activities as checking out twenty-five items, five DVDs, and signing up for Wowbrary, and some WBL trivia! The event was kicked off with Community activist Dorothy Waddy and YMCA’s Whitney Jackson sharing their reflections about the community and the library and also some of our regular library patrons provided some of their fondest memories about WBL. Activities were held every hour and twenty-five minutes and included storytelling by our own Elisha Minter, a dance performance by the Charlotte Purple Steppers, a challenge to locate and check out a black or gold book and a Bubble Gum Blowing contest. The event was attended by current and former staff, former managers, representatives from the community and of course, our valued patrons! The outpouring of support from our community with the many donations to make our event a success was incredible! Many thanks to the FRL staff members who helped to cover our service areas during the event.
It was a wonderful celebration with many surprises!
